thank you for visiting my website and viewing my work.
My name is Clint Smithers, born and raised on NSW’s beautiful and diverse Central Coast. I am the owner of Smithers Photography; a project years in the making and close to my heart, which was finally brought to life after my own wedding in 2016. Supporting me in this is my wife Mareike, my partner in crime, with whom I have one beautiful daughter.
Photography has always been a great part of my life. Whilst I enjoy travelling and adrenalin sports like Downhill Mountainbiking and fast cars, I never ceased capturing life through the lens of my camera. One of my big passions is Black and White photography, which will reflect in my work.
My love for photography started when my grandfather gave me his Pentax Spot Matic, an old film camera. Photography accompanied me all through High School, in which I studied it, and my early work life, when I was employed with Kodak. I am mostly self taught, and to this day I still find myself learning, but if you love what you do it’s not a burden but a calling.
Smithers Photography aims to capture the love, happiness, joy and laughter (and even the tears) of your special day through natural, candid photography. Our style is photojournalistic with a focus on making you feel comfortable. We like to stay in the background and capture our photos without interfering too much. A lot of people do not like their photo to be taken (I know I freeze and act unnatural when confronted with a camera…). Your wedding day photos should reflect the natural flow of the day – they should not only carry memories that last forever but also reflect the true emotions of your day. Some of the best photos are taken without the person knowing that there is a camera focused on them.
My wife and I know from our own wedding how important it is to feel comfortable with your photographer. It’s not just photographic style that should decide whom you pick to capture your day, and that’s why I like to offer an obligation-free meeting with potential clients to get to know you and your expectations, but also to give you a chance to get to know me and how I work. And maybe I am just the right fit to capture your day.
