DIGITAL SANTA 2022

cREATIVE, MEMORABLE AND STRESSFREE cHRISTMAS PHOTOS Collections A – 1 digital image, fully edited and printable, sent to your email $45 B – 2 digital images, fully edited and printable, sent to your email $80 How it works – please read before booking Photo sessions take place in our studio in Kariong. Sessions are strictly by booking only, with one timeslot per family. You will be assigned a timeslot of 15 minutes per session. Please note: there will be NO actual Santa present at the session! We exclusively work with digital backgrounds. This will result in unique and magical images different from shopping centre settings. We will guide you throughout the session, and help with posing, to make sure the photos we create look as realistic as possible. Most of all, have fun, as it will show in your images. Our settings can only accommodate a small amount of people, and you may be asked to get close, to fit you into the image. If you have a small baby or child unable to sit on their own, you will need to hold them and be in the photo. Please let us know when you enquire how many people you like to be photographed together, so we can help you choose the backdrop that works for you. Your child/family will be photographed in front of a grey backdrop and posed in ways that suit the digital backdrop scene you choose. Your image will then carefully be edited into the digital backdrop with Santa, creating the illusion of a real life scene, just like you’re next to Santa. If you have an anxious or shy child, you are welcome to stand next to them to make them comfortable, even if you don’t want to be in the final product. This is the advantage of our editing (we simply cut you out)! Our sessions are also perfect for children that are scared of Santa or have sensory issues – no crowds, no waiting in line and no stranger your child is asked to sit next to! Due to all our backdrops lighting being slighly different, we encourage you to look through the sample images we have and choose your favourite scene with Santa before booking your session. Well behaved pets are welcome under the condition that they are on a leash at all times and able to stay calm, as the set contains sensitive equipment. Please note that we have a cat, whose scent may be picked up by your pet. We ask you to inform us at the time of booking if you plan on bringing your pet. Sessions including pets may be limited to certain dates only. After we finish photographing we will show you the photos we took of you, and you choose there and then your favourite to be edited into the Santa backdrop. If you love more than one image, you are also welcome to upgrade to our bigger collection at this point, unless you have already chosen Collection B upon booking. Payments need to be finalized through our booking system (or cash on the day for any additional images) before you receive your images. Unfortunalety we do not have EFTPOS facilities. Once your image is edited, you will receive it via email address you provided at the time of booking. You are able to print the image yourself and use it how you please. We are also happy to order high quality prints for you at an additional cost. Please note that we may use images for advertising purposes – if you prefer not to be featured on Social Media or our website, please inform us at the time of booking or at the end of your session. Otherwise we will assume you agree to us using images. How to prepare for your session Most importantly, tell your child that Santa will not be there in person! There’s nothing worse than a disappointed child, when they realise they won’t get to meet Santa. Here’s a message from Santa you may want to use: “Ho Ho Ho! I’m sorry I cannot meet you today – I’m super busy preparing for Christmas, and the elves and I are working around the clock. I’ve left a photo for you that we took in a quiet moment. All that is missing is you next to me to make it perfect! With a bit of Christmas magic I’ll be there with you soon. Merry Christmas” You are welcome to bring simple props and dress up if you like. Please avoid grey clothing, due to our background being grey. Make sure you arrive on time, as we will have multiple sessions per day. This way, there will be no waiting time and you will get the most of your time with us. Should you feel unwell on the day, we ask you to contact us, so we can reschedule your session. As mentioned, the set-up is simple and might not look like much. There will be a backdrop and some lights set up, which may look unfamiliar to children. Most kids have plenty of imagination though, and we will make sure they are comfortable and relaxed with us. Showing your child one of our example photos before you come in may help, so they they know what we are working towards and are happy to cooperate. We are hoping to see you for a session this year! Should you have any other questions please let us know. To book, please send us an email through our contact page. We will update available sessions regularly. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page. Please find the backdrops available this year below, along with an example of how your finished image may look like! In addition to our new Beach Santa (see photo on top of the page) and the whimsical Storytime Santa, we will also offer these two Forest backdrops, that were popular last year. Please note that scenes that require you

intimate Ceremony on a private jetty Who says weddings have to be big? It doesn’t matter whether you have 100 guests or just a handful – it’s about what these people mean to you. We see it as a big privilege to witness the special bond between a couple, and there is no rule (apart from the two witnesses you need, to make the marriage legal) and right or wrong. The wedding day is about you as a couple – your love and connection – and having those people around you that love and support you. And if those meaningful guests know how to have a good time it’s definitely a bonus! Lisa and Shane had originally planned a bigger wedding at another location, but Lisa decided that it wasn’t really for them – they preferred a relaxed and casual atmosphere and chose to have their wedding at Lisa’s daughter’s house instead. Located right on the waterfront, the property set a beautiful backdrop, and having their big day at a familiar location eased Lisa’s nerves immensely. It simply felt like a family get-together. The private jetty was the perfect spot to have their ceremony. Lisa walked down the jetty towards Shane, preceeded by their sons and daughter. While Lisa was walking down the aisle, a song sung by one of her sons was played, such a sweet and special moment. Seeing how much love Lisa and Shane share, after many years as a couple together was really beautiful. They were so excited about their wedding day, and their chemistry was through the roof! Constantly touching, giggling and cuddling, it was clear to see that they had managed to keep that spark alive. Watching on were just their closest family and friends, who certainly knew how to enjoy themselves. There was so much banter, infectious laughter and love. We are so glad we got to capture those special moments. It really didn’t feel like work! We have no doubt that the real party only just got going when we wrapped up.

A BEACH SIDE WEDDING Steph and Gavin’s wedding day was all about showing their love in the little details. During the morning preparations Gavin was surprised by a letter from Steph, all about how excited and happy she was to become his wife. She also had a special gift for him that he wore proudly – a beautiful pocket watch. Steph paid special tributes to her grandparents, by carrying charms with their wedding photos on her bouquet. How important family are to them could be felt throughout. The pair chose their wedding venue in memory of Steph’s grandfather, who was a life member of the surf club. Throughout the bridal preparations Steph became more nervous with every step of the getting ready process. During Hair and Makeup she fully realised things were getting real! When it was time for Steph to get into her gown, her excitement was growing by the minute and she couldn’t stop smiling. Steph really wanted to do a first look with her dad and bridesmaids. And when they saw her for the first time as the bride, the emotions kept coming. It’s always such a beautiful moment. Their ceremony ran fashionably late, but it wasn’t the bride running late! It was Ollie, Steph and Gavin’s furbaby, who had the very special role of Ring Bearer, and the ceremony couldn’t start without him. Love and marriage is all about compromise, understanding and support, and Steph and Gavin really embrace their differences. Steph learnt to accept Gavin’s obsession with superheroes, whilst Gavin lets her be in charge of the TV remote for all her favourite shows. During their ceremony Steph compared Gavin to all his favourite Marvel characters, picking out attributes he shares with them. Such a sweet touch, and Gavin was smiling ear to ear. At the end of the ceremony they held an emotional butterfly release, to remember the friends and family members passed. We’re pretty sure it wasn’t just a coincidence that one of the butterflies decided to sit on Steph’s flowers. These two definitely couldn’t stop looking at each other with massive smiles all day! Happy tears during the ceremony really showed how much they mean to each other, and whenever they spoke about their future plans together – especially their dream of becoming a family – everyone could feel those emotions with them. Most couples choose to do a First Dance as husband and wife. It’s a beautiful tradition and quite an intimate moment as a couple, just enjoying each other. And you don’t need to be John Travolta to pull off a nice sway. Steph and Gavin actually surprised everyone with a full on choreography! So much fun to watch and capture, followed but Father Daughter and Mother and Son Dances. It was such a long-awaited day for this beautiful couple, and they made sure to enjoy every minute of it. With that special bond they share, we are sure they have a bright future ahead of them.

COURTNEY & KEITH – LINTON GARDENS WEDDING, NSW

IN AMONGST THE PATHS AND PLANTS Courtney and Keith met when they were just 16, and simply clicked. Most relationships that start so young are not meant to last, but these two never looked back. They literally grew up together, which made their bond even stronger. When we asked them what they love about each other the most their answer was: “We still make the time and effort every day to make each other feel loved and special in little ways.” On their wedding day, that love was shining through their every pore. Both were so excited, nervous and just smiling constantly during their preparations. When the reality set in that their wedding day had finally arrived, Courtney couldn’t hold back the happy tears, which kept flowing when the rest of her family laid eyes on her as a beautiful bride. We loved seeing how invested their families are: how happy, they are for them and supportive of their love, fully embracing them both. Tears kept coming during their ceremony, and this time it was the groom that was moved to tears during his vows. It’s such a special moment witnessing the raw emotions the wedding day can bring. Courtney was moved by Keith’s tears, but quickly made Keith and everyone laugh again with her comment: “I told you to get the tears out of the way earlier! See, I cried all morning – now I’m fine!” For their bridal photos we used the grounds of their wedding venue. It is definitely a big advantage having everything in one spot – getting ready, ceremony and reception. No traveling in between locations means more time with the guests, more time for photos and in general makes things easier. The lush greens of the gardens created a beautiful backdrop, and we found some nice variety in locations and shots. Their wedding guest list may have been on the smaller side – Courtney and Keith preferred an intimate atmosphere – but the crowd they chose to be there with them sure knew how to party! The laughter and good vibes flowed into the night, with the popular show game having everyone involved in guessing the answers, not just bride and groom. Their speeches brought out more laughter and happy tears. Only Courtney’s nan, the rock of the family, refused to let the tears flow, despite the bride asking her to show her true emotions. Instead she said: “I’m so happy for you, but I won’t shed a tear today, not until I have a quiet moment on my own.” We absolutely loved being part of this couple’s day – seeing their bond and love so strong makes us feel confident that they will have a bright future together, building on their dreams of their own home and starting a family together.

wedding albums a timeless product

Our Wedding Checklist: Why we think albums are forever.

This is why you need one. When we started doing wedding photography we were reluctant to offer wedding albums. Quite frankly, we didn’t really see the value in them at that time. But, weren’t we wrong! When we were looking for our own wedding, we saw it as a pricey product that would end up sitting in our cupboard or under our bed collecting dust, only to be pulled out once in a while on special occasions. Since then, a lot more product variety has come out, which are less bulky and allow more customisation, making an album design more personal and unique. We have always told our couples how important and special it is to have a tangible product, a physical reminder of your special day.  And it doesn’t get much better than a beautiful album.  Do you remember going through your parents’ or grandparent’s photo albums as a kid? How special was it to see those images and hear their stories!  That’s exactly what your wedding album will do. It will take you right back to your wedding day, and those generations after you will love looking through the photos, too. It will become a part of your family history – not just a precious keepsake for yourself, but a family heirloom that will be cherished. So why the higher price point? We are lucky enough today to have such amazing products available, that are crafted to stand the test of time. It is both the production and the design process of the albums that justify their price. When we were looking for a supplier to work with we, focused not only on the highest quality but also wanted to choose an Australian made product. In times like these, supporting local businesses is more important than ever. We fell in love with the Flushmount album – a handcrafted product that is bound with a seamless gutter, allowing the pages to sit flawlessly flat.  This enables us to fill a page with one photo, without a visible cut in between, and really showcasing the true beauty of the image. The pages have a beautiful texture and feel, plus the materials used are carefully selected and specially treated to ensure maximum longevity. You can tell how much care and pride goes into this product! The albums are customisable by imprinting the cover, so our couples can choose whether they like their names, initials, wedding date or a special message on the album. We love this, as every wedding and every couple is different, and your album should represent you. You can also choose from two different cover materials, a leatherette and linen – we love them both! There are plenty of colour options, too. When we chose the album size we went for an A4, as this is not overwhelmingly big and bulky, but a decent size to fit in your book shelf or on the table, inviting you to view it more often. We were so excited when our portfolio album arrived – we love showing our couples what their images can look like and more importantly, how beautiful they will look in an album. We cannot wait to create many of these beauties! The design process When you choose a wedding package with an album included, we will start designing it as soon as the photo editing process is finished. We will carefully design the album layout to retell the story of your wedding day. This is quite time consuming, as we want to get it right before we show it to our couples. We ask our couples to trust us in choosing the images for the album, as we know how hard it is to go through them and choose favourites, let alone design an album yourself! However, if you have a special request or like more input in what goes into the album before we present you the proof you are welcome to.  We will guide you through the whole process and ask about your preferences along the way, so we can give you an album that truly represents your day. When we are happy with the album layout, we will schedule in a proofing session with you, which will take place at our home/studio. You will be able to view the design on a big screen – this might also be the first time you see your wedding photos, so please make sure you come together. It is such a special moment! You can then give us feedback – whether you instantly love it as it is or whether you ask for a couple of tweaks here and there. Either way is fine – we want you to be 100% happy with your album! Once you give us your approval we can then order it for you. You choose cover and imprint yourself to suit your taste and personality. Then all you have to do is wait for us to contact you that your album is ready, which may take a few weeks. If you’re looking for your photographer and love to have an album to treasure, please CONTACT US. We would love to show you the album in person and hopefully get to create your own unique version. This is our portfolio album with copper imprint on rust leatherette cover.

Our Wedding Checklist: Our thoughts on choosing a wedding location

How lucky are we, getting to live on the beautiful Central Coast! It has so many beautiful spots, that we are really spoilt for choice when it comes to possible locations for photography. It really depends on your preference – do you love the beach? If it’s a big fat yes from your side be prepared to walk through sand, and maybe even a few stairs to get to the perfect spot, as some of the best locations may not be in plain sight. You ideally want to choose a beach that is not highly frequented – you may not feel comfortable to have spectators watching on, and having a lot of people in the background makes photos and the editing process unnecessarily challenging, unless you love strangers photobombing your photos! As long as you’re not worried about getting sandy feet and a bit of sand or dirt on your dress (trust us – if you’re uncomfortable it will show in your photos), a beach location can be the perfect choice. Afternoon light is usually the best and less harsh, so you want to time your wedding schedule accordingly for your photographer to capture the beautiful late afternoon golden glow. You can simply stroll along the beach, climb onto the rocks or if you are more adventurous and playful, splash each other at the edge of the water. We are certainly up for anything and don’t mind getting our feet wet for the perfect shot. We have done some beautiful shoots on the beach – it’s always a popular choice for wedding couples and families. If you love the ocean but are not keen on carrying sand back to your reception, there are other options to include water views. We’ve worked with a bride that really wanted the ocean as her backdrop in the bridal shoot, but the wind and sand would make her eyes itch, so we chose to shoot at a jetty and lakeside location instead. This also meant less walking, which is something you should consider when you are strapped for time or have people that are less mobile with you. Another beautiful way to capture the ocean without braving the elements too much is choosing a lookout or location overlooking the water as your photo location. Luckily there are plenty to choose from, whether you are on the Southern or Northern part of the Central Coast. The lush greens of the bush are a stunning backdrop as well, not just here on the Central Coast. We love shooting areas with indirect light and a bit of shade – the light is so flattering and on a hot day you will be grateful for getting out of the sun for a bit. To get to the really magical spots you usually need to be prepared for a bit of a walk, so bring a comfy pair of shoes for the walking part! However, sometimes a line of trees that is easily accessible – a public park, your backyard or even a pretty driveway – might do the trick, too. But don’t be discouraged if you’re not up for the exercise or are short on time – an experienced photographer will be able to make the most out of almost any location. How amazing are waterfalls as your photo backdrop! A favourite of ours – but, in most cases, they require quite a bit of walking, and your timeline needs to allow enough time to get there and do the shoot. You will certainly be rewarded with beautiful images though! However, not every couple is willing to spend hours away from their guests on their wedding day to have their photos taken. A shoot at the waterfall definitely requires more time, due to their usually remote locations. If you love the setting but can’t find enough time in your wedding schedule, how about booking an engagement shoot there instead, like our couple below? We also love it when our clients have unusual ideas or requests, too – it really gets the creativity going! The dance photo shoot with the waterfall as the backdrop was challenging for all sides, but so much fun, and we ended up with some amazing and unique photos. One thing important to do is research – certain locations, landmarks or national parks will require you to pay a fee or permit to photograph there. Please don’t leave it up to your photographer to organize! If there is a fee involved (whether it is for parking, council fees or the use of a private property) it is your responsibility to cover the cost, unless arranged otherwise. There’s nothing more embarrassing than rocking up to a shoot and then be refused entry or be send away mid shoot. You certainly don’t need that kind of stress on your wedding day! So, how do you choose your perfect photo location for your wedding photos here on the Coast and beyond? Your first step is to find the right wedding venue for you. If you have ceremony and reception at the same location we usually have more time for photos, as we don’t have to travel in between, but this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t choose different locations you fell in love with! Different locations can give you more diverse photos, and as long as you time your wedding schedule right – leaving a bigger gap in between ceremony and reception – no location change should be an issue. You have to choose your venue to suit you – of course, it has to fit in your budget, but in the end it will be your heart that will let you know you have found the right one. Once you have secured your venue your photographer will help you choose suitable photography locations. You may have some ideas, but the experience your photographer brings to the table will definitely help narrow down options and also let you know if something won’t work. You might really love to have

Covid-19 & Our Business

Usually our Blogs are about happy occasions, our photo shoots, but the situation we currently find ourselves in calls for a bit of a different Blog. We don’t think this virus deserves any more attention than it already has, but it has affected so many people and businesses already, with unfortunately the wedding industry hit hard as part of it, that we like to share our approach to handling it. We’ve already had some couples postponing (actually all of our winter weddings now) and we are expecting more devastated brides and grooms to contact us. The longer this crisis is going, the more weddings will be affected, and once strict regulations are set in place venues and vendors are obligated to follow, to ensure people’s safety and to avoid fines. The added stress this event is causing when you’re already fully involved in your wedding planning is heartbreaking, especially for those couples whose weddings are just around the corner. All final details are in place and they are ready to enjoy their day, only to have their plans cancelled. The fact that it is something completely out of their control makes it so much harder to accept. Who knows how this crisis will develop and when it will end! In times like these it is crucial to focus on things that are really important – your health and the love and support you share. Yes, it is terrible that right now you cannot go ahead with the wedding as you planned, but this doesn’t mean it won’t happen! It will, and when you finally have your dream wedding it will be even more special. This crisis will make us appreciate what we have, and make us realize that we cannot control everything. However, we can control how we tackle this crisis and make sure we come out stronger than before. Have you considered still going ahead with your ceremony? Government regulations may prohibit gatherings of any kind, but you can still get married, even if it’s just the two of you, your celebrant and witnesses. Social media and technology make it easy for your other guests to be a part of it, through live streaming, chat and videography options. And once things have gone back to normal you can have the biggest party and celebrate your wedding once again! We as a wedding supplier are very understanding of the situation and are allowing all our couples that are affected by the current changes to reschedule their day if they wish to, pushing most weddings into the last term of the year and well into 2021. The circumstances we’re faced with are unprecedented and out of anyone’s control, and it would be unfair making our couples lose their booking or make them pay a fee when they choose a new date. It is hard enough losing your wedding date and cancel all plans for now – we feel for every couple going through this difficult time. Remember you are not alone in this, and it will certainly not be the end of your dream wedding! It has affected us massively as a business. As in other industries new bookings have stopped, as couples understandably wait out this crisis before tackling their wedding planning. On a positive note, we know that eventually this crisis will be over, and we’re preparing for a busy time afterwards. Couples will pick up where they have left of, and new bookings will come. This current time will hopefully make people more conscious of what’s important in their lives and bring us all closer. We’re ready and excited for a fresh start! If you happen to be one of those couples affected in your planning – rest assured we’ll be here to support you and are ready to jump into a new season of weddings. 2020 was a big year for wedding bookings (actually our best year since starting our wedding business!) – up until Coronavirus put a hold on all plans. As devastating as it is right now, we try to be positive and stay busy behind the scenes. We’re hoping that 2021 will be the new and improved 2020. For anyone reluctant to plan their big day right now – this might actually be a good time to start browsing and looking for wedding vendors you like. You might be hesitant to lock in a date, but knowing your budget, preferences and what you like in a vendor will help you narrow down the search for the perfect fit for your day. Due to postponements and rescheduling, a lot of popular dates for spring and summer this year and for 2021 will be booked quickly. It doesn’t hurt putting your feelers out early, talk to some vendors to see if your personalities click and then lock them in as soon as you set your date. Also, it doesn’t have to be a Saturday wedding – your guests will love you for giving them a long weekend if you choose a Friday or Sunday! All we can say is, don’t be discouraged in your planning – this too shall pass! It may be a stressful time, on top of planning a wedding which is already stressful enough. Let’s support each other – us wedding suppliers as well as any small business need all the support we can get at the moment, too! You can help us and other vendors by sharing and following our pages and recommending us to friends and family. Giving your favourite vendors a stellar review, purchasing gift vouchers or simply commenting on their work will make their day and increase their exposure, so they can jump back into work once the crisis has passed. The little things go a long way and can make a business stay afloat in these uncertain times. After all, we’re all in this together and hope to survive the storm. Remember that health is our greatest good, and even though your plans may have to change

Our Wedding Checklist: Elopement ceremonies – perfect for the budget mind

A lot of our couples are deciding to have a smaller wedding instead of wanting all the bells and whistles of the traditional wedding, even before the current social distancing rules and restrictions came in. And who’s to say an intimate ceremony can’t be as beautiful! We always say to our couples to have the wedding the way THEY want, and some people do not want all the fuss and attention of a big wedding. If you look at it, all you really need is yourself and your loving bond as a couple to make it a special day, and if you like to surround yourself with your closest family or friends, a legals only or small wedding allows for that, too. Budget may be another reason for couples to keep their weddings small. Whatever your reason may be, you shouldn’t see an Elopement or small wedding as a compromise solution or Plan B. With the right attitude and a wonderful celebrant it can be just as emotional and special as any elaborate wedding. If you are one of the couples that were meant to get married this year but have been left disappointed and feeling lost among all the current restrictions, keeping your original wedding date may still be possible. You most likely chose that particular date for a reason or it might carry special meaning – so why not still get married that day? You can have the big party once the restrictions have been lifted completely and even do another ceremony or vow renewal, just the way you originally planned. Who doesn’t like to celebrate their wedding twice? And it doesn’t need to break the bank, either! Elopement ceremonies are no more expensive than getting married at the registry office (sometimes even cheaper!), but – in our opinion – are a lot nicer and more personal. A big bonus is that you can choose a nice location to tie the knot, like a park, nice backyard or the beach. We have photographed some beautiful intimate weddings and can wholeheartedly say that they can be just as memorable and touching as any big wedding! Those few people that get to witness your ceremony will feel even more honoured to be a part of your day, and the focus really lies on the importance and beauty of your union as a couple. We believe any wedding – big or small – deserves to be captured. Photos have the wonderful ability to bring back memories and carry emotions, and we like our images to be a true representation of your wedding day. When we designed our photography packages we were thinking about how different everyone’s needs and plans are, and how we can pay that justice. Our smaller photography packages are aimed at couples that are simply looking for someone to photograph their ceremony – after all, that’s what it’s all about! We make sure there is always enough time to do a quick bridal shoot, too, so you get those beautiful portraits of just the two of you on that special day. Or if you prefer, we can photograph you with your guests before you head of for a celebratory lunch or dinner. Whether you have already found your celebrant or are looking at a package option that suits you – we are happy to help. We have worked with some wonderful celebrants and know some beautiful locations to have your ceremony that will also work well for beautiful bridal photos. Sometimes we need to free ourselves from expectations that say you have to go all out when it comes to weddings, and have to stop worrying about whether you can afford getting married! There is always a way, and an Elopement or intimate wedding might just be the perfect choice for you.
